This iPhone-first WhatsApp feature is now coming to Android smartphones

Instant messaging app WhatsApp is rolling out Picture-in-Picture mode for its Android users that are part of the beta program. This feature enables users to switch between WhatsApp chats without ending any video — whether it is from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram etc — the users are playing in the app.

This was first reported by WABetaInfo, the social media channel that tracks the changes and upcoming features on the Facebook-owned app. As per their report, this feature has been spotted on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.177
For those unaware, the Picture-in-Picture mode has been available for desktop and iOS users since a while now. The feature is likely to be rolled out to a stable build soon as it is already there in the beta build.

Two features — that were earlier this year launched in beta updates — were recently rolled out in the stable version v2.19.150 of the app for Android users. These features, like consecutive voice messages and forwarding information are now available for all Android users of WhatsApp. Using the consecutive voice messages, Android users will not have to play each voice note they receive individually as they will be played continuously. However, it is applicable only in the case of consecutive voice messages.
